Much of my written and visual work is focused on limitations of language, the Symbol, and its assigned meaning. My work subverts symbolic conventions so as to simultaneously lure the viewer with recognition of the familiar, and discomfort with a new context for these representations. Images that are ordinarily easily digested are reconsidered within the new framework of negative space and concepts of layer.

My work centers on questions of travel and confrontation, forced growth, charted development using invented standards and inherent limitations of medium with references to histories of the map, circuit schematics, and blueprints.
