Offprint Artist Book, 2012

This project was created as a method of documenting my year of travel; a sketchbook and journal, after the fact. Made from a deconstructed Reader's Digest Atlas, Offprint is comprised of original etchings, poems, and collages printed atop existing maps. The intaglio etchings are pulled from copper plates that were sent to significant locations around the world and marks acquired during travel were documented. They act as a visual representation of physical travel. The work is heavily influenced by the history of the book with references to book preservation and several methods of printing including letterpress, and digital. It is meant to be experienced in both directions.
